

How to join the Wattle Park Saints
There are two basketball seasons per year, with Summer season running from October - April, and Winter season from May - September.
Registrations usually open around August for Summer season, and February for Winter season. Keep an eye on our website for details, or subscribe to our Halo newsletter for updates.
Registration for Wattle Park Saints Summer 2023/2024 season have officially closed, however, you can still register your child but there will be a late fee of $50 per player applied.

Once you click on the correct registration link, you will be presented with a screen that displays a Season Information screen; please click on Get Started
If it is your first time using PlayHQ, you will be required to create an account. The account should be created using a parent’s details. Once the account has been created, you will be able to log into the system and register each of the players accordingly.
FEES
When you register your child with Wattle Park Saints, Basketball Victoria requires each player to pay a “Basketball Victoria Annual Participation Licence” fee for insurance purposes. The Basketball Victoria annual fee is $29 for Juniors and $43 for players 18yrs and over. This fee will be listed as a separate item at payment and will cover the player for 365 days (2 seasons).
This season the registration fee has been set at $130. Unfortunately we have had to raise our club fees due to increases in training and other operating costs. This will also as a separate line item. If you register after August 14th 2023, an additional $50 late payment fee will apply.
Therefore, for new players the total registration payment for juniors is $159 and for players 18 years and over is $173.
If you are registering a 2nd and subsequent child, you will register each separately and under the same account name (i.e. the parents email address). The system will automatically apply a 5% discount on the “club registration fee” for 2nd and subsequent family members.
If you are playing multiple games (e.g. Friday and Saturday) you need to register for each game using the links above.

AGE GROUPS
Age groups for MEBA competitions work as follows:-
a. Summer Season – Under the age of the prescribed competition (U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U21) on the 30th June in the year in which the season commences. So for the upcoming Summer Season, your child's age at 30th June 2023 determines the age group they belong to.

Under 14s – 01/07/2009 - 30/06/2011
Under 16s – 01/07/2007 - 30/06/2009
Under 18s – 01/07/2005 - 30/06/2007
b. Winter Season – Under the age of the prescribed competition (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 21) on the 31st December in the year prior to which the competition commences.
ii. Any player may be called upon by the Registrar, competition committee or Grade Secretary to supply proof of age. This proof of age must be provided within seven (7) days of the initial request.
iii. The prescribed age deadlines will be strictly adhered to.
If your child has playing preferences that would see them wanting play up, please ensure that is included in the comments when registering.
LATE REGISTRATIONS
If you have not registered by 5pm Monday 13 August , you will need to email the Registrar on wattleparksaints@gmail.com with the player details (name, date of birth, playing day) to be placed on a waiting list. If places them become available due to lack of numbers in a particular age group or the like, then those places will be allocated to those that first expressed an interest to be considered for selection after registrations close. There will be a LATE FEE of $50 per late registrations accepted.
REFUNDS
If you have already registered and decide you no longer wish to be considered for team placement prior to 20th August, you will need to email the Registrar at wattleparksaints@gmail.com. A refund may be provided; however, a $25 administration fee will be deducted from the original registration payment. Please note that Basketball Victoria is not able to refund the Annual Participation Licence fee of $29/$43.
Once teams have been arranged and if you subsequently decide you no longer wish to play, there will be no refund provided. If there are extenuating circumstances for why a player is no longer available to play, you will need to email the Age Group Coordinator requesting a refund and this will be considered at the next available Club Committee meeting.
If a player is injured during the course of a season, there will be no refunds provided. If it is a long-term injury, causing a player to miss over 75% of the season (including finals), you can email the Age Group Coordinator and at the next available Club Committee meeting, it may be considered to carry over the registration fees to the following season.
ADDITIONAL COSTS
Contribution to weekly team sheets & refereeing costs – your team manager will collect approx. $10 per week to cover the team sheets/refereeing costs. For ease of administration, some team managers may collect a larger amount once a term.
UNIFORMS
If you are a new family to Wattle Park Saints you must order a uniform at the time of registration. Please note it can take up to six weeks for your uniform to be processed.

TRYOUTS / TEAM SELECTIONS
The club will not be conducting tryouts. Team selections will be based on the “Team Selection Policy” found on the club's website.

Team sheets will be emailed during the Term 3 school holidays.
SUMMER 23/24 SEASON DATES
Training will commence from Monday 2 October (subject to venue access)
Monday games commence on Monday 2 October
Friday games commence on Friday 6 October
Saturday games commence on Saturday 7 October
COACHES and TEAM MANAGERS NEEDED
Wattle Park Saints relies on volunteers to keep the club operating. We therefore ask all members to consider taking on the role of Coach or Team Manager when registering your child. Please indicate whether you are willing to take on this role when asked in the registration process.
Wattle Park Saints also encourages junior players to take on a coaching role for younger age groups. Junior coaches are paid $500 for their efforts coaching during the season. If your son or daughter wishes to be considered to coach a junior team please indicate this interest when asked during the registration process. The club will discuss what is required of junior coaches to anyone that expresses interest. Contact our President Shayne La Combre @ shayne@picac.edu.au
COACH REGISTRATION
If you are a coach (parent or junior), you will also need to register as a coach through PlayHQ using the same registration link as above. You will need to enter your Working With Children's Check details. There are no coach-registration fees.
TEAM MANAGER REGISTRATION
If you are a Team Manager, you will also need to register as a team manager through PlayHQ using the same registration link. You will need to enter your Working With Children's Check details. There are no team manager registration fees.
