How to join the Wattle Park Saints
There are two basketball seasons per year, with Summer season running from October - March, and Winter season from April - September.
Wattle Park Saints offers teams for:
Monday night games - Girls
Friday night games - Boys
Saturday games - Girls and Boys
Registrations for the Summer 2024/2025 season are closed
Please email info@wattleparksaints.org.au to enquire about any team vacancies.
Age Groups
In Summer 24/25, age groups will move to odd numbers. There will still be an entry level Under 8s competition.
The age group eligibility dates that determine which age group a player can play in will also be changing.
In the Summer 24/25 season, to be eligible for a particular age group a player will need to be under that age on 31st December 2024.
Registration fees
This season we will be moving to an upfront payment of team sheets. This not only reduces the cost of each team sheet and brings us in line with most clubs, it also reduces the administration responsibilities for Team Managers. There have been some issues recovering team sheet fees during the season. This will see a significant upfront payment increase on last season (although total season fees will remain the same). PlayHQ has a facility to make staged payments (4 equal payments over a 6 week period) and if anyone needs hardship payment assistance please contact Shayne La Combre – president@wattleparksaints.org.au
Accordingly this season’s standard club registration fee has been set at $385.
In addition, you may have to pay:
Basketball Victoria (BV) Annual Participation Licence fee for insurance purposes. The BV annual fee is $29 for Juniors and $43 for players 18yrs and over. This fee will be listed as a separate item at payment and will cover the player for 365 days (2 seasons).
From January 1, 2024, an annual Basketball Australia (BA) Game Development levy of $5.50 per competition player will be introduced nationwide.
Therefore, the total registration payment for juniors is $419.50 and for players 18 years and over is $433.50 (where the BV and BA fees are due).
If you are playing multiple games for Wattle Park Saints (e.g. Friday and Saturday) you need to register for each game using the links above.
Please take care with registering your child into the correct competition and ensure their details are entered correctly. Any questions or issues, please contact Sally Marks on info@wattleparksaints.org.au

Refunds
Please consider your registration carefully as refunds for withdrawal are only available in limited circumstances (for example medical grounds). If you have already registered and decide you no longer wish to be considered for team placement prior to September 3rd 2024, you will need to email the Registrar at info@wattleparksaints.org.au
All refunds will incur a $25 Administration fee and only apply to the Club portion of the Registration. We cannot refund the Basketball Victoria Annual Participation Licence fee of $29, the Basketball Australia Participant Fee (Game Development Levy) of $5 or any other administrative charges incurred by the Club in any circumstances. Any application for refund needs to be forwarded to the Registrar at info@wattleparksaints.org.au setting out the reason for the refund.
Once teams have been arranged and if you subsequently decide you no longer wish to play, there will be no refund provided. If there are extenuating circumstances for why a player is no longer available to play, you will need to email the Age Group Coordinator requesting a refund and this will be considered at the next available Club Committee meeting.
If a player is injured during the course of a season, there will be no refunds provided. If it is a long-term injury, causing a player to miss over 75% of the season (including finals), you can email the Age Group Coordinator and at the next available Club Committee meeting, it may be considered to carry over the registration fees to the following season.
ADDITIONAL COSTS
Basketball Victoria Annual Participant Licence for players (per 365-days)
This is a statewide participation licence that applies to domestic, and junior representative player registrations and is charged when the player doesn't already have a licence that covers them for the entirety of the season they're registering to.
$29 – Junior (17 and under) playing participant
$43 – Senior (18 and over) playing participant
Basketball Australia Participant Fee (Game Development Levy)
From January 1, 2024, an annual Basketball Australia Game Development levy of $5.50 per competition player
will be introduced nationwide.
This levy will be applicable to all players participating in regular season competitions, excluding coaches, officials, volunteers, and administrators (unless they are also registered as basketball players). Regardless of how frequently a player participates in the sport each week, the levy will only be due on an annual basis (similar to the Basketball Victoria licence).
Note: the $5.50 fee will be paid when a player next registers to a competition season (for existing players this may or may not coincide with the Basketball Victoria licence depending on anniversary dates).
LATE REGISTRATIONS
If you have not registered by 5:00pm Sunday 18 August, you will need to email the Registrar on info@wattleparksaints.org.au with the player details (name, date of birth, playing day) to be placed on a waiting list. If places then become available due to a lack of numbers in a particular age group or the like, those places will be allocated to those who first expressed an interest to be considered for selection after registrations close. Please note that registrations completed after Sunday August 18th will incur a $50 late fee.
WALKOVERS
Where a team causes a walkover - insufficient players for a game to allow play, then the team must pay for the walkover – an additional $52. Where the opposition team causes a walkover the team will be credited $88.
PLAYER REQUESTS
The Club will attempt to accommodate as many playing requests as possible but unfortunately this is not always possible. Please ensure you have included any playing request in the relevant registration fields. This includes players requesting to play up or with a specific other player(s). The Club reserves the right to add a player to any team.
